Catch Me If You Can

Artist Book, 9 chapters
Materials: etched tin cans and copper, wire, paper, mixed media
Each: 3”w x 6”h

Loosely based on Jacques Deval’s quote  from Afin de vivre bel et bien “God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages.” Catch Me If You Can developed from the duplicity of home being a place of safety or of confinement. A quiet nod to birds (and what we do to them), these objects with doors and latches and windows are a tangible application of the concept of captivity and freedom. Viewers decide for themselves if the objects constrain or enable – whether the home is a place of imprisonment or a place of refuge.

  1. This is sublime work. So much more here than you were able to put into words at Writer’s Exchange, which is exactly how it should be. Your web pages are a congress of wonders–so glad I visited.
