New Painting Debuts at SCAD Open Studio Event

ATLANTA, GA: Macey Ley will exhibit her latest work, blind eyes could blaze at the 16th annual SCAD Open Studio event November 13 – 15, 2020.

Open Studio will showcase more than 500 jury-selected works submitted by SCAD students, alumni, and faculty from across a wide range of media, including mixed media, sculpture, painting, photography, and printmaking. 

SCAD Art Sales, a premier curatorial platform, will offer guests access to its expansive artist network through the work on display. Launched in Winter 2016, SCAD Art Sales represents a unique channel whereby SCAD champions its students and alumni. Artwork available for purchase ranges in price, with inventory continuously updated as new and established artists submit work through the SCAD Art Sales online portal.

Open Studio will take place Friday – Sunday, November 13 – 15, 2020, on the dedicated Open Studio page. SCAD VIPs will have early access to preview and purchase artwork on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

Circumstantial Gravity Wins 1st Place, 7th Annual Artist Book Symposium

Circumstantial GravityAtlanta, GA –  Macey Ley’s latest artist book Circumstantial Gravity took first place and a purchase award in the 7th Annual Artist Book Symposium sponsored by the Savannah College of Art and Design. The book, along with I Am Not and Sweet Surrenderwill be on display at the ACA Library Artist Book Gallery in SCAD Atlanta through the end of July 2014.

SCAD’s ACA library in Atlanta owns a premier collection of over 2,100 artists’ books. It includes works from more than 1,000 renown artists, including Robbin Ami Silverberg, Julie Chen, Karen Hammer, Lois Morrison and Kara Walker. Guest may make reservations to view selections from the collection at any time.

Macey Ley MFA Thesis Show: “You Are Here”

You Are HereAtlanta, GAYou Are Here thesis exhibition features the culminating achievements of Savannah College of Art and Design MFA candidate Macey Ley. Her artwork includes whole-body installations and artist books that investigate the connections among memory, place and identity. She uses everyday objects and myths as a starting point, creating experiences that both invite and challenge viewers to examine how memory of places and beliefs in myths shape identity.

Ley completed her BFA in photography at the University of New Mexico, has run creative departments in advertising and design, and currently freelances as an event producer. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Italy.

You Are Here will be on display at Further Art gallery in Atlanta, Georgia, May 13-17, 2014 with a reception Friday, May 16 from 6-9 p.m. Additional gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 12-3 p.m.

The Book as Art: 21st Century Meets Tradition

Presented by the Decatur Arts Alliance and the Art Institute of Atlanta – an Event of the 2013 AJC Decatur Book Festival

The Decatur Arts Alliance (DAA), in conjunction with the gallery of The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur, is bringing the first juried exhibition of artists’ books to the AJC-Decatur Book Festival — the largest independent book festival in the country.

Macey Ley’s single-edition book TV Dinner for Zombies will be on display at the Gallery at The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur at One West Court Square, Suite 110 through September 20, 2013 (gallery hours below).

Macey Ley announced today that her single-edition book TV Dinner for Zombies was selected for exhibition at the The Book as Art: 21st Century Meets Tradition, a featured exhibition of the AJC-Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, Georgia. Sponsored by the Decatur Arts Alliance and The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur, The Book as Art will be on view in the gallery of The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur at 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30328.

Macey Ley announced today that two of her artist books were chosen for a group exhibition at the 6th Annual Jurried Artist Book Show at the Savannah College of Art and Design Book Arts Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Her books TV Dinner for Zombies and Women Hold Up Half the Sky will be on display at at the college’s library at 1600 Peachtree Street through July 15, 2013.
