Macey Ley to Exhibit at the Hudgens Center for the Arts

Down to a Science

ATLANTA, GA:  Macey Ley will exhibit several artist books at the Page by Page: Contemporary Artist Books exhibit at the Hudgens Center for the Arts, beginning February 9, 2019. The exhibition will showcase work in a variety of forms, including fine press books, altered or reconstructed books, sculptural structures, installations, and books without narrative. Featured books, include Down to a Science, Just a Symptom, and The Sky Is Surely Open.

The artwork will be on display February 9 – April 20, 2019, with a reception yet to be announced. The gallery is located at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Building 300, Duluth, Georgia 30097.

Macey Ley Exhibiting at Texas National

Coupled and Inseparable

NAGOGDOCHES, TX:  Macey Ley’s sculptural artist book Coupled and Inseparable has been selected for exhibition at the Texas National at the Ed & Gwen Cole Art Center sponsored by Stephen F. Austin State University. The Texas National 2016 juror is Abelardo Morell who selected works by artists from 29 states. The exhibition will be on display April 9 – June 11, 2016, with a reception on Saturday, April 9, 6-8 p.m.

The Ed & Gwen Cole Art Center is located at the Old Opera House, 329 E. Main Street, Nagagdoches, Texas. Gallery hours are Tues.-Fri. 12:30 – 5 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Macey Ley Exhibits at Hambidge Center

ATLANTA, GA:  Macey Ley announced today that When the Hush Fell Upside Down has been selected for exhibition at the Lightweight at the Hambidge Center Weave Shed Gallery in Rabun Gap, GA. Lightweight includes artwork by Hambidge Fellows exploring definitions of and connections with the term ‘lightweight.’ Work will be on display March 19 – June 11, 2016, with a reception on Friday, March 19, 4-6 p.m.

MACEY LEY SELECTED TO EXHIBIT AT LAGRANGE NATIONAL XXIX BIENNIAL

ATLANTA, GA:  Macey Ley announced today that Snow White has been selected for exhibition at the LaGrange National XXIX Biennial at the LaGrange Art Museum in LaGrange, GA. The exhibition includes paintings, prints, drawings, photography ceramics, sculpture and decorative arts and will be on display February 19 – April 2, 2016, with an awards ceremony and reception on Friday, February 19, 7-9 p.m.

Macey Ley Awarded First Prize at The Book as Art 3.0

The Decatur Arts Alliance (DAA) is honoring Macey Ley’s The Belt of Orion’s Never Wife with first place prize at The Book as Art 3.0: No Jacket Required, a featured exhibition of the AJC-Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, Georgia. The exhibition – showcasing artist books from more than 30 U.S.-based artists – offers new interpretations of the ancient concept of books and questions 21st century book form and format. Jurors include Margot Ecke, Athens, GA; Arlyn Ende, Sewanee, TN; and Jeff Rathermel, Minneapolis, MN.

A gala reception will be held, Thursday, September 3, 2015, 6-9 p.m. at and The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur at 1 E Court Square #110, Decatur, GA 30030. Ley’s artist books The Belt of Orion’s Never Wife and Snow Glow will be on display at the Art Institute of Atlanta through Friday, September 18.

MACEY LEY EXHIBITS AT THE BOOK AS ART: No Jacket Required

Snow GlowMacey Ley announced today that two of her books were selected for exhibition at the The Book as Art: No Jacket Required, a featured exhibition of the AJC-Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, Georgia. Sponsored by the Decatur Arts Alliance and The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur, The Book as Art will be on view in the gallery of The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur at 1 E Court Square #110, Decatur, GA 30030.

The AJC Decatur Book Festival is the largest independent book festival in the country. Since it began in 2006, more than 1,000 world-class authors and hundreds of thousands festival-goers have enjoyed book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children’s area, live music, parades, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and more.

The Belt of Orion’s Never Wife and Snow Glow will be on display at the Art Institute of Atlanta from Friday, July 24, through Friday, September 18. An evening gala reception and keynote address will be held at the Gallery on September 4. The time has yet to be announced.

Circumstantial Gravity at Abecedarian Gallery

Circumstantial GravityDENVER, CO:  Macey Ley’s artist book Circumstantial Gravity  will be on display at Abecedarian Gallery in the exhibition Coptically Bound this autumnThe exhibition features artist’s books that are bound in the Coptic style.

Artworks will be on display September 18 through November 1, 2014, with an opening reception on Friday, September 19, 6-8 p.m.

Abecedarian Gallery is located in Denver’s Arts District on Santa Fe: 910 Santa Fe #101, Denver, CO, 80204. The gallery presents local and national artists working across multiple disciplines with an emphasis on contemporary book arts and works on paper. Macey Ley Exhibits I Am Not at Asheville BookWorks

IMG_4019_sml_croppedASHEVILLE, NC:  Macey Ley announced today that her artist book I Am Not will be on display at Asheville BookWorks in BookOpolis 2014: Printmade Artist’s Books.

The exhibition features artist’s books made with original handprint processes, including relief, intaglio, letterpress, planographic, stencil, and collography printing methods. One of the goals of the exhibition is to move the printed art object off the wall and into the hands of a user/viewer/reader, creating a different experience of both art object and book object.

Artworks will be on display September 19 – November 30, 2014, with an opening reception on Friday, September 19, 6-9 p.m.

Circumstantial Gravity Wins 1st Place, 7th Annual Artist Book Symposium

Circumstantial GravityAtlanta, GA –  Macey Ley’s latest artist book Circumstantial Gravity took first place and a purchase award in the 7th Annual Artist Book Symposium sponsored by the Savannah College of Art and Design. The book, along with I Am Not and Sweet Surrenderwill be on display at the ACA Library Artist Book Gallery in SCAD Atlanta through the end of July 2014.

SCAD’s ACA library in Atlanta owns a premier collection of over 2,100 artists’ books. It includes works from more than 1,000 renown artists, including Robbin Ami Silverberg, Julie Chen, Karen Hammer, Lois Morrison and Kara Walker. Guest may make reservations to view selections from the collection at any time.

The exhibition includes works on paper, including, prints, watercolor, drawings and artist books and will be on display February 14 – April 19, 2014, with an opening reception, Thursday, February 20, 6-9 p.m.
